Helpers Information

Helper volunteers are an integral part of Camp Woodbrooke.  We expect helpers to grow as positive role models for children, as leaders, and as team members.  The camp provides room and board.  Woodbrooke provides orientation and training at the start of the session and ongoing support and nurturing from a Helper Mentor.  Helpers have opportunities to observe and learn from experienced counselors and the opportunity to create an individualized plan focused on personal leadership and service goals.

Depending on a helper’s experience, skill level, and readiness, he/she will have opportunities to assist in planning and leading activities with campers.  Helpers may also assist with cabin leadership and bedtime supervision.

The camp expects helpers to have an interest in working with children and to have had some experience.  Helpers should have the ability to work cooperatively and positively with others of all ages.  They should have the independence and maturity to follow through on responsibilities, to be on time, to keep their personal belongings clean and in order, to take proper care of camp supplies/equipment, and to take care of personal health and wellness needs (including going to bed on time).
